Cautions & Contraindications

1. Heart Issues & Blood Pressure
Although there are many benefits to heart health and blood pressure, for some conditions it is advised to refer to your GP or health specialist before booking a sauna. Heart conditions like unstable angina, recent heart surgery, or uncontrolled arrhythmias may not respond well to the physical stress of the heat.

3. Implanted Devices
Pacemakers, defibrillators, or surgical implants like metal pins may react differently in the sauna. Please discuss things with your doctor or the company that made your device before considering using a sauna. They can give you advice specific to your device and health situation.

4. Active Infections
The heat can do more harm than good with an active infection. It can raise your body temperature, worsening a fever and potentially helping the infection spread.

5. Kidney Disease
Individuals with kidney disease need to approach sauna use with caution. The sauna’s heat can cause fluid imbalance or electrolyte loss, potentially complicating your condition. Always consult your doctor to understand how sauna heat might affect your kidneys and whether it’s a safe option for you.

6. Bleeding Disorders & Blood Thinners
If you have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood thinners, the sauna’s heat, which increases blood flow, could be a concern. It might worsen bleeding issues or affect how your blood clots. Discuss sauna use with your doctor to understand the risks and to get advice tailored to your health needs.

8. Diuretics
Using a sauna while on diuretics can make you dehydrated. The sauna’s heat, along with the effect of the diuretic, can drain your body’s fluids fast. Before you use a sauna, talk with your doctor about balancing your meds and hydration to keep your sauna sessions safe and fun.

9. Alcohol & Drugs
In addition to the existing health risks, heat can intensify the effects of alcohol and drugs. Use of drugs or alcohol is prohibited at the studio and any participant deemed intoxicated will be removed and banned.

10. Pregnancy
During pregnancy, it’s crucial to be cautious with sauna use. The heat can increase the risk of complications, stressing both the mother and the fetus. If you’re pregnant or planning to become pregnant, discuss sauna use with your healthcare provider to understand the potential risks and to receive personalised advice.

11. Children Under 18
Thinking about sauna use for a child? It’s key to talk to a pediatrician first. They can offer advice based on the child’s age and health and how to keep them safe in the sauna. Our general recommended age limit is 14yrs old and must have supervision.

12. Colds, Flus, Fever
As our sauna is a publicly used facility and a very enclosed and close environment, we ask that you do not book a sauna, for obvisou reasons, if you are sick or getting sick.

13. Dehydration / Sun Exposure
Going into a sauna when you’re dehydrated or have been exposed to too much sun, can lead to heat stress or even heatstroke. Ensure you’re well-hydrated before, during, and after your sauna time. If you tend to get dehydrated, chat with your doctor about using the sauna safely and keeping your body hydrated.

14. Post-Surgery Recovery
After surgery, your body needs time to heal. The heat from a sauna can affect this process. Always wait for your doctor’s clearance before using a sauna post-surgery. They can guide you on the right timing and how to reintroduce sauna use safely into your routine.

15. Cancer Concerns
If you have cancer or a history of it, sauna use requires careful consideration. Ongoing research suggests a need for caution. Always consult your doctor to discuss how sauna heat might interact with your condition and to receive guidance tailored to your health situation.
